Reading Goes Wild!

August 6th 2011 was a big day for the children of Nairobi County and its environs. All roads led to Nairobi National Park for the Kids Festival where Oxford University Press authors, illustrators and staff promoted reading and creativity among children.
Starting off with a game drive, children and their parents had their eyes marked on the Oxford Village where various activities awaited them.
More than 5000 children converged at the Oxford Village where creativity merged with fun in storytelling, reading, drawing, painting, spelling, drama and poetry. OUP authors Frank Odoi, Godfrey Ipalei and Felix Ochieng excited children with their exceptional mastery of the written word.
The OUP sales team promoted the newly released Kamusi ya Watoto and On point KCPE Encyclopedia. “Our story  books were the centre of attraction in the display tent. Parents had a hard time as kids demanded that they must go home with a copy” said Geoffrey Rono, the Business Development and Publicity Manager.
The Kids Festival was hosted by renowned stand up comedian Dan Ndambuki aka Churchill. The event was sponsored by Oxford University Press East Africa, Standard Group, Naivas Supermarket among others. Award winning artists Daddy Owen and Wyre entertained the kids.
